About the role

As a Business Development Representative, you will help business owners understand which financing paths may fit their goals and what information providers need to evaluate an application. You will start thoughtful conversations, listen for timing and operating needs, and explain options without overstating approval, pricing, or availability. The role combines disciplined outreach with careful follow-through and accurate documentation.

You will work alongside underwriting and operations to move qualified opportunities forward, resolve missing-information questions, and keep clients informed at each step. Strong performance in this position comes from consistent activity, sound judgment, respectful communication, and an organized pipeline. Every conversation should leave the business owner with a clear understanding of the next action and realistic expectations about the process.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and qualify small to mid-size business leads via outbound calls, email, and referrals
  • Present Excel Capital Funding products to business owners in a clear, consultative manner
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities using our CRM system
  • Meet and exceed monthly funded deal targets
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to structure and close deals

Requirements

  • 1+ years of sales or business development experience (finance or B2B preferred)
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple conversations simultaneously
  • Experience with CRM tools a plus

What success looks like

  • Maintain a consistent outreach and follow-up cadence while recording complete, useful notes in the CRM
  • Use discovery questions to understand each business owner's goals, timeline, and available documentation
  • Set accurate expectations about the review process and communicate status changes promptly and professionally
  • Bring underwriting and operations into qualified opportunities early enough to prevent avoidable delays
